PROCEDURES FOR PROCESSING APPLICATIONS
AND SELECTING APPRENTICES

The JATC will make applications available from 8:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. the First Tuesday of each month.

The applicant must provide copies of the following documentation prior to receiving an application.

a)  Birth Certificate (must be at least 18 years of age)
b)  High School Diploma or G.E.D.
c)  High School and College Grade Transcripts (if applicable)

d)  Valid Drivers License*
e)  Military Release Papers DD-214 (if applicable)
f)   Documentation of previous Sheet Metal experience if applicable)


*A valid Nevada Drivers License will be required prior to acceptance into the program.

The applicant will complete an official application form in person at:

The JATC will schedule all qualified applicants for any aptitude test(s) required by the JATC. The applicant will be notified in writing as to time, place and date they are to complete the aptitude test.

Applicants will receive the following points during their testing process:

a. Previous experience in fabrication or installation of HVAC in the Sheet Metal Industry 0 -12 points
b. Veteran with Honorable Discharge 6 points
c. I.T.I. Math Test 0 - 20 points
d. I.T.I. Reading Test 0 - 20 points
e. Local JATC Math Test 0 - 40 points

Applicants must have a minimum combined score of 66 points to qualify for an interview.

The JATC will interview all applicants who qualify for and report for said interview as scheduled. The JATC will schedule oral interviews as needed. The members of the JATC will hold the interviews.

The Final Application Score will be the total of all points.

Upon completing all scheduled interview sessions, all interviewed applicants will be notified that they shall remain on the active list, subject to selection, for a period of two (2) years from the date of their oral interview.

If an applicant is not  selected, they may reapply and take the next scheduled aptitude test.

The JATC will place all individuals currently active on the list in ranked order.

When new interviews are scheduled and completed, the JATC will add the newly interviewed applicants to its existing ranked list of applicants.

The number of new apprentices to be selected, at any time, will be determined by the JATC, based on industry needs and the JATC’s ability to provide training.

All selected applicants are subject to a Substance Abuse Test, after selection but prior to being indentured into the apprenticeship program.
